House Cleaning Services by All Star Furnace in Forest Lake, Minnesota

I called for an appointment and was surprised to get one the next morning, was quoted 164 and asked about brushing and was told 80 more. I made the appointment and he showed up at 8:00am as scheduled. He came in with two small hoses and I asked is that all you use and he replied do you expect me to carry it all at once? I said I don't know because I don't know how it works. We went down the basement and he proceeded to tell me that it would cost 1000 to brush clean the ducts because they are old style and don't all run in a straight line also he would have to cut multiple big holes to do it and it would take all day and he couldn't do it. He said if other companies are offering to brush the ductwork for a couple hundred dollars then they are not doing it right. I stated the house was built in 1951 and the furnace is 20 years old. He said they should have replaced all the ductwork so it all runs straight. I asked some questions about how the cleaning works, again explaining that I don't know how it works. He tore off tape from the holes in the ducts from previous cleanings stuck his finger in and looked down in the register areas and said yes there is a lot of buildup but the air could get most of it, do you want me to do it and I said yes if you think it can get most of it. He looks at some more stating the cold air exchange ducts are usually stapled but these are nailed, you can take them down and wipe down the insides to get it all off. He starts bringing in the big vacuum hose and then states that his note states that the brushing would be 80 more minimum, I said I was told 164 and brushing would be 80 more, maybe they said one thing and wrote another but your just doing the air cleaning anyway. He got upset and said my wife wouldn't do that she has been doing this for 20 something years and I have been doing it for 32 years. I said okay well we decided only doing the air. He says I don't think this is a good idea you have a bad attitude, you ask right away is that all you use and keep questioning me, I said I always ask questions to people who do work for me so I can understand what's being done. He just kept saying is that all you use, is that all you use, good luck getting someone to do your work with that attitude. I said again that I always ask questions and you were going to do the air and then you were the one that got the attitude and then pulled all your stuff out of the house. Then I said I will be sure to give you a review, he says you can't I didn't do work and got in his truck. I can do a review, you came in my house tore off a bunch off ductwork tape throwing it all over the floor and got upset because I was asking how the process worked and because of the wording of the brushing cost quoted even though we decided only to do the air. Asking questions about how a service I am paying for is done, is not having a bad attitude. You had the bad attitude from the first question I asked.
